Pick a place.
Get connected.
Download a VPN configuration profile for Singapore or Australia. Install it in iPhone Settings, then connect when you need it.
Profiles use free, volunteer-run VPN Gate servers. Their availability, speed and L2TP support can change.
Choose your location
A fresh server address is placed in the downloaded .mobileconfig file. Choose another server if a connection fails.
Checking available servers…
More VPN locations
Download one of the six original server profiles, or add all six VPN connections in one profile. These saved addresses may change or stop responding.
Install, then connect.
- Download the profile
Choose a currently listed Singapore/Australia server or one of the six saved locations above.
- Install in Settings
Open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → Profile Downloaded, then tap Install. iOS may show “Not Signed” because this profile has no signing certificate.
- Turn on the VPN
Open Settings → VPN, select Zem Connect and connect. If it fails, return here and try another server.
What if no Singapore or Australia server is available?
VPN Gate servers change throughout the day. Refresh later or try the other country. A VPN profile needs a real server, so Zem Connect will not download one when the selected country has no current server.
Alternative: Proton VPN Free app
For a steadier free VPN, search the App Store for Proton VPN and choose its free plan. Its official app manages the connection. The free plan chooses a server automatically, so it is separate from the downloadable profile above.
Advanced alternative: VPN Gate + OpenVPN Connect
Download an OpenVPN configuration, then import the .ovpn file into OpenVPN Connect from the App Store. This option needs the app and is separate from the iPhone Settings profile above.
Open this section to load available servers.
Will all apps work while connected?
Some UAE government, banking and other apps may reject VPN connections. Disconnect the VPN for those apps. DNS exceptions cannot bypass an active VPN tunnel.
